How to Use Our Free Proxy Checker

Using our proxy checker is easy. Follow these simple steps to test your proxies:

  1. Enter the proxy IP address and port number.
  2. Enter the proxy IP username and password, if it is required.
  3. Select the proxy type (HTTP or SOCKS5).
  4. Click the "Check Proxy" button.
  5. Wait for it to analyze the proxy.
  6. View the results, including status, and latency. Please note that latency may vary and is not equal to your latency.

Why Use a Proxy Checker?

Proxies help protect your privacy, bypass geo-restrictions, and enhance security. However, not all proxies work properly. Some may be slow, blocked, or unreliable. That's why checking your proxies before using them is crucial.

  • Ensure Reliability: Avoid downtime by testing your proxies beforehand.
  • Save Time: Quickly filter out dead or slow proxies.

Difference Between HTTP and SOCKS5 Proxies

Understanding the difference between HTTP and SOCKS5 proxies can help you choose the best option for your needs.

HTTP Proxies

These proxies are mainly used for web browsing. They can handle only HTTP and HTTPS traffic. They are useful for web scraping, SEO tools, and accessing region-restricted content.

SOCKS5 Proxies

SOCKS5 can forward TCP and, when both server and client support it, UDP. It does not inherently encrypt traffic or guarantee better speed than HTTP. Compare dedicated SOCKS5 proxies with static residential SOCKS5 if you need an ISP exit IP.

What a Successful Check Does Not Prove

This check connects from our server, not your device. Reported latency is for that test path and is not a throughput benchmark. A successful HTTPS request does not verify SOCKS5 UDP relay, your browser's DNS settings, or access to every destination. Use My IP in your configured browser to inspect its exit address, and the UDP test for network diagnostics.

If your proxy allows only your own client IP, it may reject our test server. Check your provider's authentication requirements rather than disabling access controls. Our IP authentication guide and Firefox SOCKS5 setup explain the corresponding ProxySocks5 settings. Do not submit credentials unless you are authorized to test the proxy.

Common Proxy Errors and How to Fix Them

Sometimes, proxies fail to work due to various reasons. Here are some common proxy errors and how you can fix them:

  • Proxy Timeout: The proxy server is slow or unavailable. Try another proxy.
  • 403 Forbidden: Access was denied; check destination rules and proxy access policies before changing IPs.
  • Connection Refused: Verify the host, port, listening service, and firewall rules.
  • DNS Resolution Failed: The proxy might be incorrectly configured.
